If you are facing a mental health crisis, you are not alone. Huntsman Mental Health Institute is here to help you. We have special programs to prevent mental health crises and support you. Our team of professionals are trained and ready to help you with:

  • Managing a mental health crisis
  • Suicide prevention
  • Creating emotional wellness

Below are resources that can help you during or after a mental health crisis.

For a Mental Health Crisis

Call, chat, or text 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Call 801-587-3000 (local) for the Utah Crisis Line.

When you call, chat, or text 988, you will talk with a certified crisis worker at the Utah Crisis Line who will assist you with the following needs and services:

  • Help you prevent a crisis or suicide
  • Give you compassion and support free of judgment
  • Set up follow-up services or referrals for other mental health providers
  • Share helpful information resources

Certified crisis workers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

For Secure Evaluation & Stabilization

The Crisis Care Center helps adults ages 18 and older get help during a mental crisis. Our services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Call 801-583-2500 for general inquiries. Dial 988 if you're experiencing a mental health crisis.

As a visitor at the institute's Receiving Center, you will receive individual care based on your needs:

  • Evaluation of your crisis
  • Assessment of your mental health condition
  • Prescribing medication to stabilize your symptoms as needed
  • Therapy focused on solutions
  • Peer support and case management
  • Recommendations for next steps
  • Connections to ongoing support
  • Offer follow-up services and referrals
  • Crisis observation for up to 23 hours as needed

For Non-Crisis Emotional Support

Call 1-833-SPEAKUT or 801-587-1055 (local) for the Utah Warm Line.

You will talk to a peer support specialist when you call the Utah Warm Line who will assist you with support:

  • Listen to your concerns
  • Offer support and engagement
  • Encourage you to make positive changes and share helpful resources 

Utah Warm Line is available for anyone living in Utah. They are available from 8 am–11 pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 

For Fast, Free Face-to-Face Crisis Response

Call 988 or 801-587-3000 (local) for the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT).

  • The Utah Crisis Line will send out the MCOT to many areas throughout our state.
  • MCOT provides care for people within Salt Lake County.
  • Other mental health authorities provide care for other areas.  

MCOT has licensed clinicians and peer support specialists for youth and adult services:

  • Provide face-to-face consultations and support for the following groups:
    • Individuals
    • Families
    • Schools
    • Treatment providers
    • First responders
  • Offer follow-up services and referrals
  • Offer virtual visit options 

MCOT services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
